Several companies have come up with new designs and variations of plastic products at the 2018 Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) which drew a huge crowd of shoppers.
The new products include Crown Tools, fiber crisale chairs, new styles of buckets, storage units, lunch boxes, plastic melamine items, rattan paddle bins, hangers, children’s school supplies featuring Cartoon Network characters and much more.
These eye-catching items are being offered at up to 30% discounted prices and buy one, get one free offers. The companies have been selling these products at cheap rates to reach their sales target.
Great deals are available at the fair from Bengal Plastics, RFL, Partex Plastics and Esquire Plastic Limited (EPL).
Visitors can be seen walking around different pavilions and are drawn into booths by all the attractive offers available.
Exhibitors said they had their highest sales in the first ten days of the fair. Due to the recent cold wave, however, the number of shoppers have decreased, causing dwindling profits. Most visitors have just been browsing and walking away before purchasing anything in the last few days.
Speaking to the Dhaka Tribune, sales managers and marketing executives at different pavilions said they were satisfied to have sold the bulk of their products in the first ten days.
Md Sakib Hasan, who is in charge of the Bengal Plastics pavilion at the fair said: “The company is offering discounts of up to 15% on household products and 10% on furniture. This year, our sales numbers were higher than the last two years because we had new products to showcase.
“Last year, our target was Tk2 crore. Since our sales are going as planned, we targeted around Tk3 crore this year.”
Imteaz, who is in charge of RFL, said: “We could not sell our products as per our expectations in the first ten days of the fair. Our pavilion is half the size it was last year, due to a lower number of sales.
We offer a 30% discount on some special products such as tiffin boxes, buckets and chairs and 5% on storage units to attract customers. We fixed a target of about Tk3 crore this year. We expect our sales will thrive in the upcoming days of the fair.”
EPL Corporate Sales Manager, Ali Ahmed Shams and Md Tuhin from Partex both said their sales went very well in the first week. They hope they will see an increase on Friday.
Ali Ahmed Shams added that EPL received a great response from local customers at DITF, while their products are also being exported to countries in the Middle East and South Asia due to high demand.
“If some one buys at least one product, from our pavilion we present them with bottle of Jeera Pani, which is worth Tk20,” Md Tuhin said.
Sharmin Begum, a visitor from Dhaka’s Moghbazar, said: “I came here with my children and my sister-in-law to buy kitchenware, food and toys at discounted prices. We come to the fair every year.”
This year, around 587 stalls and pavilions, including 42 foreign stalls from 17 countries, have been set up at the 23rd edition of DITF.
