NBR chief for better system in revenue offices

Speaking as the chief guest at a view exchange meeting with the Tax Lawyer Association, the NBR chief termed himself “a system builder”. He said: “The country is going to get a strong and people-friendly NBR through workshops, trainings and academic researches.” To build a strong partnership with tax lawyers, National Board of Revenue (NBR) organised the programme for the first time at IDEB Bhaban auditorium in the city yesterday. Terming December the Law Enforcement Month, he said: “NBR and the Anti-Corruption Commission have the partnership to deal with tax evaders and corrupt people.” During the open discussion, tax lawyers asked for some clarification of tax laws, audit and gross profit (GP) from NBR that would reduce tax related complexities and avoid case filing attitude. They also demanded attention against harassment in the name of audit and misuse of law. The lawyers also showed a standing respect to the chairmen for his outstanding contribution in making ‘new NBR’. The tax administration is going to provide office order to tax offices bearing regulation of not doing job bypassing office works in tax offices across the country, added NBR official. The NBR chair urged all stakeholders to make the NBR ‘Oxygen of development’ by making it taxpayers and business friendly by removing old-aged manner and approach toward people of the country. He assured the lawyers of forming a committee to fix the problems and to work together with Tax Lawyers. Among others, NBR Members Mir Mushtak Ali and Md Abdur Razzak, General Secretary of Bangladesh Tax Lawyers’ Association MA Gafur Majumdar, President of Bangladesh Tax Lawyer Association Md Monirul Huda addressed the programme with NBR Member Dr Mahbubur Rahman in the chair.
