Rohingya man shot dead in Teknaf

Three unknown people, who took the victim to a hospital, fled after he was pronounced dead

A 30-year-old Rohingya man was shot dead in Teknaf upazila of Cox's Bazar during a shootout between two rival groups.

The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Selim, son of Abdus Salam of a Rohingya refugee camp in Teknaf, said Ukhiya police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Ali.

The OC said Selim was taken to Ukhiya's MSF Hospital by three unknown people. When the doctors pronounced Selim dead, the three people fled from the hospital. 

The officer also mentioned that Selim was an active member of a group named “Dakat Chakmaiya”. 

“He was shot dead in a clash between Nabi Hussain and Munna's group in the border area named Unchiprang Tutardia,” the OC added.

The body has been sent to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
