Power production at the Rampal thermal power plant in Bagerhat has remained suspended for three days due to a turbine malfunction.
At present, turbine repair work is underway in full swing to resume electricity generation.
After repair, it will be possible to resume production and power supply again within a couple of days, said plant authorities.
Deputy General Manager (DGM) Md Anwarul Azim said power generation has remained halted since last Sunday due to the malfunction.
Currently, engineers of India Heavy Electricals Ltd are working on repairing the turbine.
Earlier, the power generation was suspended from June 30 to July 9 for maintenance work. It opened on July 10 after that.
But after six days, the power supply to the national grid stopped on July 16 due to a turbine malfunctioning.
Even before this, the Rampal coal-based thermal power plant had been closed several times due to various problems including mechanical faults and maintenance.
