Khaleda asked not to use motorcade during campaign

Update : 25 Apr 2015, 08:01 AM

The Election Commission has asked BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia to refrain from using motorcade during city polls campaigning.

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Returning Officer Mihir Sarwar Morshed told the Dhaka Tribune that a letter was sent to the BNP chief on Saturday morning regarding the matter.

The letter says Khaleda was hampering traffic by using motorcade for campaigning in favour of the BNP-backed candidates in the city.

The BNP chief’s motorcade was obstructed in Uttara on Sunday, and attacked on Monday and Tuesday allegedly by supporters of Awami League.

However, ruling party leaders claim that angry people might have attacked from their grievances as more than 100 people were killed during the BNP-led alliance’s anti-government movement since January.
