BNP backed candidate Tabith M Awal went to the Korail slum yesterday to gather supporters as part of his election campaign. Tabith talked to the residents of the slum and also addressed an election rally there.
Tabith told the reporters: “I am getting good response in the campaign. I have the blessings and support of Khaleda Zia who appointed me to campaign for the youths. If the government and election commission works properly then I will win in this election.”
Tabith was optimistic that the voters of North Dhaka City Corporation would support him to keep his promise of building a clean and “modern Dhaka” and said: “I will soon release the election manifesto.”
BNP leaders are contesting under the banner of the nascent “Adarsha Dhaka Andolan” (ideal Dhaka movement).
Tabith Awal was selected to fight for the Dhaka North City Corporation polls after the candidacy of his father, BNP Chairperson’s Adviser Abdul Awal Mintoo, was rejected.
Tabith’s main rival is FBCCI’s former president Annisul Huq, who is contesting with the support of Awami League.
