JUST BCL vice-president held

Chhatra League's Jessore University of Science and Technology unit vice-president has been detained along with alcohol bottles and some unused exam papers from his room at Shaheed Mashiur Rahman Hall.

The police also recovered some pipes for taking Yaba and cannabises from the possession of the detained BCL leader, Sheikh Shakil Ahmed, who led the recent movement on the campus,

According to the police, the law enforcers conducted a drive led by Jessore Executive Magistrate Abdus Salam and “K' Circle Superintendent of Police Milu Mia on the campus around 4pm Wednesday.

Later, the JUST authorities have sealed off of the room of Shakil.

Magistrate Abdus Salam told the Dhaka Tribune that they searched all the rooms of the hall during the drive

Two Burmese knives, eight pipes for using Yaba, two bottles of alchohol, one pipe for using cannabises, 20-25 unused exam papers of the university from the room number 415, he said.

Shakil Ahamed, also a student of genetic engineering and biotechnology department, was taken into custody of Jessore Kotowali police station, said ASP Milu Mia.

JUST Vice Chancellor Dr Abdus Sattar said: “I even can not think that my students can be such of quality. I am badly embraced.”

Regarding recovery of exam papers, he said necessary steps will be taken against the people in the incident.

All academic activities and examinations will be held at the university from the next Saturday, he added.

Under the banner of general students, activists of the BCL started movement on the campus to place home several demands including removal of the university's VC for corruptions, and stopping of tender business, and resumption of studentship of BCL JUST unit president since Saturday last.

Since then, no class and examinations were held on the campus as the activists put rooms under lock and key.
