Quader: Remove unapproved Bangabandhu billboards

Update : 17 Mar 2015, 08:36 PM

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader yesterday asked party leaders and workers to remove the unapproved banners, festoons, posters and billboards containing Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s image beside the photographs of strangers.

“There’s no ideology in these days’ politics. I get hurt when I see the pictures of Bangabandhu beside that of the persons with criminal track records. I do not want to see Bangabandhu’s image beside extortionists, land grabbers and plunderers,” he said.

A quarter is doing all these misdeeds taking advantage of digital Bangladesh, the minister lamented. “Such exercise must stop… tear those into pieces wherever you see that,” he asked his party men.

Obaidul Quader, also the presidium member of the ruling Awami League, came up with the views while addressing a discussion marking the 95th birth anniversary of Father of Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman organised by Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote at Awami League central office at Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital.

He said there is no need to establish Bangabandhu as he is already there in people’s hearts with the highest honour for his own works.

Referring to the ongoing movement being carried out by the BNP-Jamaat-led 20-party alliance, Quader alleged that the target of the movement is to destroy Bangabandhu’s family.
