AL: Khaleda’s statement is full of lies

Update : 13 Mar 2015, 01:50 PM

Awami League has rejected BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's statements as “misleading” and “full of falsehood,” ruling party leader Mahbubul Alam Hanif said.

Immediately after BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s press conference, Awami League Joint General Secretary, also the party's spokesperson Hanif came up with the remark in a press conference at the party's President Sheikh Hasina’s Dhanmondi office on Friday evening.

He said: “BNP is killing people in the name of movement and countrymen know the origin of such party stands with violence.”

Hanif blasted Khaleda Zia saying, “she [Khaleda] should seek apology for lying to the media as she said law enforcers are behind the recent killings and chaotic circumstances in the country.”

“BNP led 20-party alliance is behind the killings, harassment and subversive activities throughout the country and it is proved as law enforcing agencies arrested BNP-Jamaat leaders-activists with petrol bombs and for involvement in subversive activities.” He said.

The BNP chief at a press briefing in the evening announced to continue the transport blockade until her demand for an election under a nonpartisan administration was met.

He claimed not only the people, the BNP leaders and activists also did not respond to the blockade called by Khaleda. "The people are angry at her."

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia should be put behind the bars for creating anarchy in the country, Hanif also said.

Responding to the BNP chief, who held the government responsible for the violence, he said, "Khaleda was blaming others to save herself from the people's wrath."

"She and her party had confused the nation before. They have also been identified as fraud."

Justice will be ensured for every death caused in the name of politics, he added.

He also said Awami League would share its official response to Khaleda's statements at a press briefing on Saturday.

Dipu Moni, Bahauddin Nasim among other leaders also attended the press briefing at Dhanmondi office.
