A General Diary (GD) has been filed with Banani police station, saying several people identifying themselves as DB police picked up Mahmudur Rahman Manna, convener of Nagorik Oikya.
Manna’s sister-in-law Begum Sultana lodged the GD with the police station around 2pm on Tuesday.
Banani OC Bhuiya Mahabub Hasan confirmed the complaint filing to the Dhaka Tribune.
In the GD, Begum Sultana stated that six to seven people, identifying themselves as DB police, entered his niece's residence at Banani around 3:30am on Tuesday and picked him up.
Earlier, Manna’s family members alleged the plainclothes men forcibly took Manna along with them, saying they will take him to DB Headquarters.
Meanwhile, Joint Commissioner of DMP's DB Monirul Islam said they did not have any information regarding the allegation of Manna's detention by law enforcers.
His alleged detention took place the day after his conversations with BNP leader Sadek Hossain Khoka and another unknown man were exposed, causing widespread talks and criticism.
Earlier, Manna was organising secretary of Awami League.
