13th death anniversary of Ivy Rahman observed

Awami League and its associate organisations paid tribute to Ivy Rahman, former president of Bangladesh Mahila Awami League and wife of late President Zillur Rahman on her 13th death anniversary. The ruling party, led by General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, placed flower wreaths on her grave and offered prayers at the Banani Graveyard around 8am on Thursday. Abdur Rahman, joint secretary of Awami League, Organising Secretaries Ahmed Hossain and Enamul Haque Shamim, Office Secretary Abdus Salam Golap, Relief and Social Welfare Secretary Sujit Roy Nandi, Health and Population Affairs Secretary Rokeya Sultana and Deputy Office Secretary Biplab Barua also paid their respects at the graveyard, among others. Dhaka Reporters Unity organised a round table discussion to mark Ivy Rahman’s death anniversary, with Mahbubul Alam Hanif, joint-general secretary of Awami League as the chief speaker. A special doa mahfil was arranged at Ivy Concord Tower in Banani, Dhaka after Asr prayers. Ivy Rahman was  gravely injured during a grenade blast at an Awami League rally at Bangabandhu Avenue in Dhaka on August 21, 2004. She passed away at the Combined Military Hospital three days later.
