A member of district unit BNP has been shot while a local leader of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal hacked in the town on Tuesday.
The injured leaders are district unit BNP member Abdus Salam, also a member of Natore Chamber of Commerce and Industries, and JCD leader Sharfaraz Islam alias Dolar.
Quoting witnesses, the police said local “criminal” Sazzad Mondol opened fire on Abdus Salam in the town's Kandivitua area around 12 noon while he was going to his bread factory, leaving him injured.
The locals rushed him to Natore Sadar Hospital.
He received bullet in his left leg, said doctors.
Confirming the incident, Mizanur Rahman, OC Sadar police station said: “The police have detained Sazzad's father Sagor Mondol after failing to hold him.”
“But, we are trying to capture him as soon as possible.”
On the other hand, some miscreants swooped on Dolar and hacked him mercilessly in the rail station area around 2pm, leaving him seriously injured.
Locals rushed Dolar, also the younger brother of Natore municipal commissioner Sadrul Huda Dambel, to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
Regarding the incident, the Sadar police station OC said: “We heard about the attack but are yet to get any official complaint.”
“We will take action against the criminals if the family members of the victim file any compliant.”
