Police, in overnight drives, have arrested 13 activists of BNP-Jamaat from the different upazilas of Chittagong.
The BNP-Jamaat men Mirsarai, Satkania, Lohagara, Sitakunda upazilas of Chittagong for their alleged links with subversive acts, said police sources.
Moreover, city life remained normal while police and other law enforcing agencies were deployed in the key points in the city to fend off any kind of sudden violence by picketers.
During the morning public transports were seen to ply in the different routes of the city while a few private cars were running fearing the vandalism or attacks by picketers.
Assistant Commissioner (AC) Shah Mohammed Abdur Rauf of CMP’ (Kotwali Circle) said no picket was seen to picket in the city during the morning.
No inter district bus left for the other distinctions from Chittagong fearing sabotage on highway while trains were running behind the scheduled, said sources.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Tanvir Arafat of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP)’s (West) said there was no report of any kind of awkward incident while police were kept alert.
Escorted by police and BGB few goods laden trucks and other vehicles were plying on Dhaka-Chittagong Highway with a few local transports, said Highway Police sources.
