Food Minister Quamrul Islam yesterday said the ongoing movement of BNP was steered by Tarique Rahman and not by party chairperson Khaleda Zia.
“Although BNP chief Khaleda Zia was elected prime minister of Bangladesh for two terms, it is clear that the ongoing movement is now controlled by Tarique Rahman as his instructions from London are being implemented here,” he said while speaking at a discussion titled “Militancy in politics and responsibilities of the freedom fighters”.
Organised by Bangladesh Muktijoddah Mahajote, an alliance of the freedom fighters, the discussion was held at the Freedom Fighter’s Museum in the capital.
The BNP chairperson is only staying in her office but everything in the name of movement is now being carried out by ISI agent Tarique Rahman, the food minister said.
Presided over by Bangladesh Muktijoddah Mahajote Chairman Manirul Haq, the meeting was addressed by its adviser Major (retd) Ziauddin Ahmed, National Muktijoddah Council member Rashidul Alam and Combined Cultural Alliance Chairman Golam Quddus among others.
