The BNP on Wednesday has called dawn-to-dusk hartal for Thursday in nine districts including Dhaka protesting cases filed against party chairperson Khaleda Zia and repression on the opposition leaders and activists.
The party will enforce hartal in the districts of Dhaka, Gazipur, Narsingdi, Manikganj, Munshiganj, Narayanganj, Tangail, Mymensingh and Kisherganj.
However, Dhaka city will remain out of hartal purview.
BNP chairperson's press wing official Syrul Kabir Khan told the Dhaka Tribune quoting party's Dhaka division organising secretary Fazlul Haq Milon.
Two cases — one in Jatrabari and other in Chawddogram — were filed against BNP chairperson on arson attacks. Meanwhile, party's acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was taken on three-day remand in another case.
