The district Jamaat-e-Islami has called a dawn-to-dusk hartal in Gazipur for Wednesday protesting arrest of Gazipur district unit Ameer and Gazipur city Jamaat finance secretary.
The arrestees are - Jamaat-e-Islami Gazipur district unit Ameer Abul Hossain Khan and Jamaat-e-Islami Gazipur city unit finance Secretary Nasrullah.
Jamaat-e-Islami Gazipur City Ameer SM Sanaullah, Secretary Khairul Hasan and district Jamaat Secretary Dr Jahangir Alam made the announcement in a joint media statement on Tuesday.
Rezaul Hasan, officer-in-charge of Joydebpur police station told the Dhaka Tribune after being informed about a secret meeting of Jamaat activists for planning subversive activities in the city police raided the area.
We arrested them around 7:30pm, the OC said.
Police also recovered ten petrol bombs from their possession, he added.
