BNP calls hartal in Tangail for Sunday

Update : 22 Jan 2015, 11:24 AM

The BNP has called a dawn-to-dusk hartal in Tangail for Sunday on top of the countrywide blockade.

BNP chief's adviser and also district BNP President Advocate Ahmed Azam told the Dhaka Tribune about the hartal's declaration on Thursday.

“We have called the hartal protesting the arrest of the leaders and activists of the party while they were trying to bring out a peaceful procession,” said Agriculturist Shamsul Alam Tofa, BNP general secretary of the district unit.

He also demanded the immediate release of detained party members.

Earlier in the day, thirteen BNP leaders were detained from different parts of the district on the second day of the 48-hour hartal which is being observed in Dhaka and Khulna divisions.
