The 48-hour hartal enforced by the BNP is underway in Dhaka and Khulna divisions alongside the ongoing blockade.
The hartal began at 6am Wednesday and continue until 6am Friday.
BNP Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi declared the hartal on Tuesday.
The party is observing the hartal protesting the rise in the number of murders and disappearances as well as the harassment and arrest of opposition politicians under the present government.
