Suranjit to Khaleda: Call Nawaz Sharif

Update : 13 Jan 2015, 08:35 PM

Awami League Advisory Council member Suranjit Sengupta yesterday advised BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia to phone Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif as India would not like to interfere in Bangladesh’s internal matters.

“You [Khaleda] better call Nawaz Sharif, as India has already cleared its stand that it will not interfere in the internal affairs of Bangladesh,” the former rail minister said while speaking at a discussion in the city.

“However, Nawaz Sharif will not respond to your call as [opposition leader] Imran Khan, like you, wanted to topple the elected government of Pakistan through movement,” BSS quoted him as saying.

“BNP takes stand in favour of terrorism, militancy and violence, and against democracy as it announced blockade programme...”

The senior leader called upon the BNP to shun the politics of violence and come back to the road of democracy.

Nouka Samorthak Gosthi organised the discussion at the Diploma Engineers Institute of the capital.
