The police have detained 15 leaders and activists of the BNP when the angry BNP men locked into a clash with the law enforcers in the port city's Kazir Deuri area on Monday afternoon.
Witnesses said the city unit BNP staged a protest rally at the Kazir Deuri intersection in the afternoon. At one stage, a portion of the BNP men tried to brought out a procession, triggering a clash with the law enforcers.
The BNP men threw brick chips and exploded several numbers of crude bombs targeting the law enforcers. In response, the police also fired several rounds of tear shells, said Assistant Police Commissioner (Kotwali Circle) Shah Md Abdul Rouf.
“Two people, including a police constable, Milion Chakma, were injured during the clash. Milion has been admitted to the district Police Line Hospital.”
“Later, the police picked some 20 suspected BNP activists from the spot,” he added.
