A local leader of Krishak League, a front organisation of the Awami League, has died in a crude bomb blast in the capital's Islambagh area on Sunday afternoon.
The deceased is Idrisur Rahman Idris, 28, Krishak League's joint general secretary of Ward No. 24.
Quoting witnesses, the police said unidentified miscreant hurled a crude bomb at the Eidgah ground of Islambagh area around 4pm, while the local leaders were attending an arbitration, leaving six people injured.
“The injured were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where the on-duty doctors declared Idris dead,” said Mujammel Haque, DMCH police out-post in-charge.
Locals said lawmaker Haji Mohammad Selim was also present there during the crude bomb attack.
