Police have detained 51 activists of BNP and Jamaat's student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir in a special drive in the district.
The identities of the detainees could not be known immediately.
Assistant Superintendent of Police in Jessore Reshma Sharmin said the drive was conducted in the district town from Friday night till Saturday morning.
She said all but six of the detainees were accused in several cases.
District BNP’s organising secretary Delwar Hossain Khokon said none of their leaders was held in the raid.
He claimed that he was not aware about the identities of the detainees.
