A case has been filed against Gazipur City Corporation Mayor MA Mannan and 29 others on charge of vandalism and snatching during the 20-party alliance hartal.
General Secretary of Gazipur Reporters Club MA Farid filed the case with Joydebpur police station on Saturday evening, Officer-in-Charge Khandakar Rezaul Karim said.
The case was filed against 30 persons including GCC Mayor MA Mannan and district BNP president Fazlur Rahman Milon.
According to the case statement, hartal supporters vandalised the microbus carrying some reporters including Gazipur Reporters Club president Roman Shah Alam and general secretary MA Farid at Borobari area on Saturday morning.
The hartal supporters also beat up the reporters and snatched money, camera and mobile phone sets from them.
On information, police rushed to the spot and picked up three of the hartal activists. They were also shown arrested in the case.
The BNP-led 20-party alliance observed a dawn-to-dusk hartal in Gazipur on Saturday, protesting the ban in any type of gathering imposed by the district administration.
The hartal began at 6am and ended at 6pm on Saturday.
