Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbub-ul Alam Hanif has said the BNP and Chhatra Dal “terrorist forces” launched the attacks at Bakshibazar with a view to creating instability in the country.
The ruling party leader made the remarks while addressing a press conference at Dhanmondi office of party president Sheikh Hasina, BSS reported.
"Khaleda Zia launched the attacks on Wednesday at Bakshibazar and Dhaka Medical College areas with her armed cadres to stop and hinder the trial proceedings of two corruption cases," Hanif alleged.
Hanif said the clashes at Bakshibazar area over BNP chief Khaleda Zia's appearance in court and torching a car of an MP were preplanned.
“They [BNP] want to stop the country's advancement by hindering economic prosperity,” he added.
Referring to the attack on Chhabi Biswas, Hanif said: “If such attack continues, the people of this country might attack the cars of the BNP leaders.”
