Chhatra Dal to teach ‘decency’ by mob-beating

Update : 22 Dec 2014, 07:08 PM

The Chhatra Dal, the BNP’s student wing, has demanded that the Chhatra League, the AL’s student wing, withdraw their negative comments about BNP Senior Vice-Chairman Tarique Rahman, or be prepared to be taught a lesson.

Issuing a note of warning, Chhatra Dal leaders said if they do not retract their statements and apologise, the Chhatra League will be taught a lesson in political decency by mob-beating them in the street.

“The BNP chairperson’s public meeting will be held in Gazipur on December 27 and to make sure of it the Chhatra Dal will do whatever is required,” Akramul Hasan, general secretary of Chhatra Dal, told journalists at a press briefing at the party’s Nayapaltan office.

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is scheduled to hold a rally in Gazipur on December 27 but the Chhatra League announced that it would hold a rally at the same venue on the same day.

Akramul said ever since the party’s senior vice-chairman had told the truth about history, the Awami League and Chhatra League had became desperate. “These are not Tarique Rahman’s statements. These truths have emerged from the findings and writings of researchers and writers on the Liberation War.”

He blamed the Chhatra League for fomenting chaos in the country’s educational institutions.

“Educational institutions have turned into a valley of death because of the Chhatra League’s extortion, criminality, abductions and killings. In the last year, 50 have died as a result of their intra-party feuds.”
