A Dhaka court has discharged BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir from a defamation case on Wednesday.
Chief Metropolitan Magistrates Muhammad Anwar Sadat passed the order in the afternoon as the plaintiff of the case, Advocate Moshiur Rahman Malek, president of Bangabandhu Foundation, failed to attend five fixed-dates of hearing.
Mirza Fakhrul was present in the court during today's hearing.
Earlier on July 14, Fakhul made “derogatory comments” on the then state minister for law Kamrul Islam for law at a programme in the National Press Club.
Later on July 18, Moshiur Rahman filed the case against Fakhrul.
