The activists of ruling party's student wing Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) unit of Chittagong University have confined the vice chancellor of the varsity.
They locked the administrative building of the university and took position in front of it since 12pm on Monday, demanding the punishment of their activist Taposh Sarkar's killers.
They also put the main gate of the university under lock.
The protesting BCL activists also demanded the removal of the university proctor.
"The proctor has been patronising the Varsity Express group that resulted the killing of one of our activists during Sunday's clash," former CU unit BCL joint secretary Sumon Mamun alleged.
On Sunday, a BCL activist was killed and four others injured during a factional clash at Chittagong University.
Following the killing, police raided the Shah Jalal dormitory and detained at least 30 Chhatra League activists.
