The police have arrested a local Jamaat leader from Chandlai area of the municipality on Friday evening.
The arrestee is Md Kamal Uddin, 47, president of the district Workers' Welfare Federation and also a Sura member of the municipality unit Jamaat-e-Islami.
Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge Jasim Uddin said: “Kamal was wanted in 14 cases. Acting on a tip-off, the police arrested him around 7pm.”
