Update : 25 Nov 2014, 07:09 PM

A group of post-deprived Jatiyatabadi Chatradal (JCD) activists yesterday padlocked its central central office on the third floor of BNP headquarters demanding cancellation of the newly formed JCD committee in 48 hours.

They also demanded removal Students Affairs Secretary Shahiduddin Chowdhury Annie and Assistant Secretary Sultan Salahuddin Tuku.

About 100 JCD activists gathered in front of the BNP headquarters and demonstrated for one hour led by former joint secretaries of JCD Tarikul Islam Titu and Ferdous Munna. They also demanded removal of the newly formed committee’s President Razib Ahshan and General Secretary Akramul Hasan.

Among the demonstrated leaders and activists former vice- president of JCD Torun De said: “If our demands are not met in 48 hours we will go for tougher programme.”

Party’s Chairperson Khaleda Zia on October 14 approved the 201-member new committee mentioning the names of 153 persons. Protesting the move, a group of student leaders started staging demonstrations the following day.

On October 15, they hurled several handmade bombs in front of the BNP’s Nayapaltan office and brought out a procession demanding cancellation of the new committee. Not only the post-deprived ones but many other leaders despite getting posts in the new committee, have directly expressed dissatisfaction demanding cancellation of the committee terming it a “pocket committee of the central leaders.”
