Jail gate drama

Update : 25 Nov 2014, 10:20 AM

Former post and telecom minister Abdul Latif Siddique finally had his way.

He refused to go into the Dhaka Central Jail through a side entrance saying he was an MP. He could not be treated like a common criminal, he said.

After about 20 minutes of drama in front of the main entrance where Latif Siddique stood surrounded by law enforcers, the jailer himself came out to escort the sacked minister inside.

One half of the large entry gates opened just a few feet to let the former Awami Leaguer inside.

During that time, a number of journalists approached the MP from Tangail with questions regarding the court’s verdict that sent him to jail.

Latif Siddique, however, did not answer any of the questions.
