Sajeeb Wazed Joy, son of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, called the BNP as the party of collaborators “as the party made alliance with Jamaat-e-Islami.”
Joy, the IT adviser of the PM, made the remarks while addressing a discussion programe of Suchita foundation at Radisson Hotel in the capital around 3pm on Friday.
He said: “Jamaat-e-Islami is a party of war criminals. And as the BNP had close connection with the Jamaat, it also became a party of collaborators.”
“If the BNP believes in the country’s independence and sovereignty, they must cut all relations with Jamaat-e-Islam.”
Indicating the Jamaat-BNP alliance, Joy further said: “We have seen conspiracies against the country several times, in 1970 a particular group was against the general election and the same conspiracy occurred in 1975.”
“The collaborators have no right to continue political activities in Bangladesh,” Joy added.
Joy also asked all walks of people in the country to be alert against international conspiracy saying: “We must not fear international conspiracy as we are more united than the past.”
