New voters keen to cast votes for first time

UP elections of six unions of district to be held from 8am to 4pm today and campaigns of the election ended yesterday midnight. Champa Khatun, a resident of Dashiarchhara exclave who will vote for first time, said: “We get opportunities to vote after exchanging of exclaves and we will enjoy our rights by exercising our franchises.” Ashraful, another resident of a former exclave, said: “We are happy, as Bangladesh government has given us opportunities to cast our vote to choose our representatives.” Sabetri Bala, said: “I will cast vote for first time in my life and I am happy that I can cast my vote as a Bangladeshi.” Moslem Uddin, a resident of Dashiarchhara enclave, was very excited as he can exercise his franchise for the first time in the last 69 years. He said: “Hasina gave us country and I am very much proud of being a Bangladeshi citizen.” Besides, Election Commission has completed all procedure to organise a peaceful vote in the former exclaves. Md Delwar Hossain, election officer of Kurigram, said: “We have sent ballot papers and other equipments to the respective areas.  Presiding officers have also gone to their respective voting zones.” He also said the EC had taken all necessary preparations to arrange the polls in a fair manner. Election Commision sources said to arrange the polls in a fair manner additional members law enforcement agencies were deployed in the areas.
