BNP reschedules party meetings

Update : 04 Nov 2014, 02:12 PM

BNP has postponed its three scheduled meetings due to nationwide hartals enforced by the Jamaat-e-Islami.

Maruf Kamal Khan, press secretary of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, on Tuesday told the Dhaka Tribune about the rearranging of the three key meetings.

Maruf said party's Standing Committee meeting scheduled for Wednesday has been shifted to November 13.

And Thursday’s scheduled meeting with BNP's vice chairmen and join secretaries general will take place on November 11, he informed.

Moreover, Sunday's Advisory Council meeting will now be held on November 10, he added.

Jamaat-e-Islami has called a 48-hour hartal starting from 6am Wednesday in protest against the death penalties to its top leaders Mohammad Kamaruzzaman and Mir Quasem Ali for committing crimes in 1971 Liberation War.

Earlier, Jamaat observed three-day hartal on last Thursday, Sunday and Monday protesting death verdict of party chief Motiur Rahman Nizami awarded by the war crimes tribunal.
