The police, in a special drive, have arrested 13 leaders and activists of the BNP, the Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatra Shibir from five upazilas of Satkhira.
The law enforcers conducted the drive in Tala, Debhata, Kaliganj, Shamnagar and sadar upazila till 9am on Wednesday.
Satkhira Additional Police Super Syed Modasser Ali said: “Of the arrestees, two are BNP activists and the other 11 are Jamaat-Shibir activists. They are wanted in many cases of violence.”
The arrestees were sent to Satkhira District jail, added the ASP.
Satkhira is known to be a stronghold of the Jamaat-e-Islami and is a “vulnerable” district where the joint forces are cracking down on violence.
