The BNP yesterday claimed that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s visit to the United Arab Emirate failed as no deal was inked between the two countries on manpower export.
“Our prime minister has visited the United Arab Emirates. What is the neat result? The result is that the housemaid export process will continue. But no agreement was inked on manpower export. It means the prime minister’s UAE visit has failed,” Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, acting secretary general of the party, said.
Addressing a discussion organised by Jagpa at the National Press Club, the spokesperson of the party said whenever the prime minister went abroad, mass media published pictures of success and success.
“But the government did not take any initiative to mitigate people’s sufferings. Please let people live in peace, otherwise dire consequences have to face,” he said.
The BNP leader alleged that the government was harassing the opposition leaders and activists and filing false cases against them while it was politicising the administration and other institutions restoring one-party “Baksal” system.
“Case, case and case. There is hardly any union left where our leaders are spared of any case. Six cases filed against Khaleda Zia are baseless. But the government has withdrawn 7,500 cases filed against them.”
There was no alternative but to wage a movement to overcome such a situation. “All have to take to the streets to wage resistance movement against this government.”
