The government is trying to influence the media, BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said.
He made the allegation while addressing a programme at the National Press Club in the capital on Tuesday afternoon.
Fakhrul said: “The government is trying to influence the media. The media workers are not raising their voices against the government's ill deeds and even if they do, the number is very small.”
“Media has always played an active role in all the movements of our country but now we are facing a serious crisis,” he said.
However, he also thanked the journalists for raising their voices against the national broadcast policy.
