A section of activists of ruling party’s student wing Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) has demanded immediate arrest of its rival men who allegedly carried out attack on BCL men at Shah Jalal Hall of Chittagong Hall on September 28.
The BCL men also issued ten days ultimatum till October 29 to the CU authority to realise its six-point demand.
Otherwise, they would wage a tougher movement from October 29, they threatened.
The demands came from a press conference held at CU Journalists’ Association (CUJA) office in CUCSU building area at around 2:30pm on Sunday.
CU shuttle train based BCL faction Varsity Express (VX) who belongs to metropolitan Awami League (AL) president ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhruy organised the press conference where they placed their six-point demand.
At the conference, Shuvagota Barua Shuvo, a member of VX group, read out the written statement while the leaders and members were present.
The BCL men alleged that the former joint secretary of CU BCL unit Sumon Mamun and former Human Resource affair secretary SM Alauddin have been implementing the agenda of Jamaat-Shibir men on the campus spreading baseless, fabricated information against the CU BCL unit and CU Vice-Chancellor Professor Anwarul Azim Arif.
The BCL leaders claimed “Sumon Mamun Group” is not a part of CU BCL unit as they are outsiders at CU BCL unit and were declared unwanted on the campus.
The other demands were -- to ensure the existence of general students at the dormitories driving out the Shibir men, reopen the closed Shah Amanat and Suhrawardi dormitories, arrest all the accused Shibir leaders and activists who carried out crude bomb attacks on CU teachers’ buses and continue all the classes and schedule examinations ensuring congenial educational atmosphere on the campus.
Mizanur Rahman Bipul, Mohaimunil Faisal, Mizanur Rahman Mizan, Jaid Mahmud, Md Rashed were present, among others, at the press conference.
