Some 70 leaders and activists of Sylhet district unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) have been sued following Friday’s factional clash between two groups of the front organisation of BNP at Sylhet Shaheed Minar.
Shah Mubassir, second officer and sub inspector of Kotwali Model police station, confirmed the matter.
Sub Inspector Kamal Ahmed filed the case against the JCD men mentioning 30 named and 40 unnamed on Friday night.
JCD Sylhet district unit president Advocate Syed Ahmed, its secretary Rahat Choudhury Munna, JCD Sylhet City unit president Nurul Alam Siddique Khaled, its secretary Abu Saleh Lookman, Abdur Raqib Chowdhury, deprived group leaders Syed Safeq Mahbub, Rezaul Karim Nachon, Mahbubul Haque Choudhury, Sakil Murshed, Ahmed Choudhury Foyez are among the accused.
Meanwhile, police have detained five JCD activists.
On September 18, the new committee of JCD Sylhet city unit and district unit were formed without holding any council.
Two groups engaged with clash since then.
