41 BNP leaders' indictment hearing now Jan 14

A Dhaka court has deferred the charge framing hearing against 41 BNP leaders and activists including its acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in an arson case, until January 14.

Dhaka Metropolitan Special Tribunal 5 Judge Md Ruhul Amin passed the order in response to the time petitions filed by the defence lawyer on Wednesday morning.

Out of the 41 BNP men, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Amanullah Aman, Abdullah Al Noman, Harun-or-Rashid did not appear before the court while other 37 accused including Mirza Abbas, Moudud Ahmed, Barkatullah Bulu and Shahiduddin Chowdhury Annie were present in the court.

A case was filed with Ramna police station under the Explosive Substance Act for torching a vehicle in front of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College in Bailey Road of the capital on March 2, 2013, during a BNP-led agitation programme.

Ramna police station Sub-Inspector, also the Investigation Officer of the case, Deepak Kumar Pal submitted the charge sheet on July 5 this year.
