‘AL believes in irreligion’

Update : 14 Oct 2014, 09:45 PM

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has alleged that the Awami League believed in irreligion and attacked all religions, while it was the BNP who believed in religious harmony.

“They [Awami League] claim to be secular, but their claim is just a mere eyewash. Awami League is an irreligious party in the disguise of secularism. During hartal, Bishwajit [Das] was killed by Awami League people,” Khaleda said after exchanging greetings with members of the Hindu community at the capital’s Institution of Engineers Bangladesh auditorium.

The former premier alleged that Hindu community members have been repressed continuously and the ruling party men were involved with those attacks. “But the culprits were spared,” she claimed.

Khaleda called upon citizens to unite against the misrules of the government, adding that no people irrespective of their religion was safe from the hands of the government.

“BNP is a patriotic party and believes in religious harmony. We respect people of other religions,” she said.

The BNP chief claimed that the ruling party have been grabbing land and properties of the Hindu community members across the country and also destroying the temples.

“As the ruling party men were involved with those incidents, actions were not taken against them; rather it was blamed on other people to shift the responsibility.” Khaleda said when the BNP will form the government in the future, it would be the government for people of all religion.
