Mirsarai unit of BNP has withheld the dawn to dusk hartal in the upazila of Chittagong for Sunday.
The programme was halted for the next 72 hours as law enforcing authority has promised to fulfil their demands, said BNP Mirsarai unit convenor Nurul Amin.
“Police are very serious about our demands and they have already captured two alleged in this connection, which testimonies to their sincerity,” he said.
He, however, said if the police fail to fulfil their demands by the stipulated time they will call some programmes like hartal,” Nurul added.
BNP leaders and OCs from Sitakundo, Mirsarai and Joraganj police stations along with the ASP of those areas held a meeting on Friday night and continued till Saturday morning.
Earlier, BNP Mirsarai unit called the hartal demanding immediate arrest of the killers of former convener Adil Mahmud Chowdhury of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal of the upazila in Chittagong.
