Jatiya Party faction Secretary General Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu has demanded cancellation of MP Abdul Latif Siddique's membership from the parliament and party for his comments regarding Hajj.
At a reception arranged arranged by the Tangail expatriates in New York on Sunday evening, the minister made some comments on Hajj that drew criticisms, particularly in social media.
He made the statement while addressing a rally of the local activists of the party on Tuesday afternoon.
Bablu demanded Latif's removal from the cabinet for his remarks against hajj and Prophet Mohammad.
He said: “Latif's statement has hurt the sentiments of the Muslims living in Bangladesh and it can not be accepted.”
He also declared to hold protest rallies in different districts and the capital in protest against the statement.
However, he did not disclose the date for the protest programme.
