Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatra Shibir activists have stage violant protest in different areas of Sylhet following the Appellate Division's verdict that gave Delawar Hossain Sayedee imprisonment until death.
They brought out brisk processions and vandalised some five CNG-run auto-rickshaws in different areas incluidng Dorshondeori and Chondipul areas during the processions.
The activists brought our the processions from seven points of the district on Wednesday, soon after the Appellate Division pronounced its verdict.
Kotwali police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Monirul Islam said: “Police have detained three people for questining over the vandalism.”
Meanwhile, they engaged in a chase and counter chase with the law enforcers in front of Dorshondeori Government Primary School.
Airport police station OC Shah Jaman said Jamaat activists have also vandalised an auto-rickshaw of the police.
Later, police fired blank shots and tear shells to disperse the crowd.
