Police arrested Narayanganj district BNP President Toimur Alam Khandakar near Topkhana Road in the capital yesterday in connection with a vandalism case.
Confirming the incident, Barrister Ehsanur Rahman said: “I went to the police station when Toimur called me over on the phone.”
Dhaka Metropolitan Police Motijheel Zone Deputy Commissioner Ashrafuzzaman said: “Toimur was shown arrested in a case filed with Paltan police station. He was handed over to the detective branch of police around 6:45pm.”
Earlier in 2004, Ruhul Arefin took the lease of the basement of Jatiya Bodhir Songstha in Bijoynagar for 60 years.
