The Dhaka city BNP unit will not see its full-fledged committee soon as its convenor Mirza Abbas yesterday said it is not possible to form the committee within the timeframe.
The city convening committee is supposed to form a full-fledged committee within two months since it was formed at midnight of July 17.
Mirza Abbas said: “Soon after the committee was formed, there came Eid and we have observed some programmes. So it would not be possible to form the full fledged committee within the timeframe.”
Mirza Abbas was speaking to reporters after holding a meeting with the city leaders at the city office.
He was asked whether the government’s obstacles or the party’s organisational weakness was getting in the way of their movement, he said: “The government is putting obstacles in the way of our movement.
“We are being prevented from holding programmes at different points in the capital. However, our organisational activities are in progress. As the Dhaka city council has not been held for a while, it is hampering the smooth operation of the activities.”
