An Awami League leader has been beaten to death in Krishnapur area under Bagatipara upazila of the district.
The deceased was identified as Mozammel Haque Moznu, 68, vice-president of Natore Pourasabha unit of the ruling party.
Faridul Islam, officer-in-charge of Natore sadar police station said some unidentified miscreants picked up Maznu while he was returning from Bagatipara around 1:30pm.
The miscreants brought him at Bottala area of Nowdapara-Yeasinpur road and beat him up mercilessly with lethal weapons, said the OC.
Moznu succumbed to his injuries on the way to a local hospital, said OC Faridul Islam.
Being informed, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body and sent it to Natore sadar hospital morgue for autopsy.
