Update : 29 Aug 2014, 08:47 PM

A DU student was critically injured on Thursday night in a clash between two groups of BCL at Dhaka University campus.

The injured was identified as Al-Amin, a first year student of Criminology department, also a member of Bangabandhu Hall BCL unit and a follower of the that unit’s President Darus Salam Shakil.

Eyewitnesses said Al-Amin was assaulted around 8pm by a Mohashin Hall unit BCL activist Liton and his accomplices, when Amin tried to protect his girlfriend from their teasing.

After the incident, AL-Amin called his hall mates (Bangabandhu hall BCL men) and they beat up the Mohashin hall activists. Later the Mohashin hall activists attacked Al-Amin with lethal weapons when he was alone in TSC area around 9:30pm and left him critically injured.

Al-Amin was rushed to Dhaka Medical Hospital, and when his condition deteriorated the on duty doctor referred him to Intensive Care Unit. On Friday noon Al-Amin was shifted to Cabin-2.

The duty doctor said he was out of danger, but must be kept under strict supervision.

DU Proctor Amzad Ali told the Dhaka Tribune that stern actions would be taken against the culprits.

Mehadi Hasan, secretary general of Mohashin hall BCL, said the hall unit BCL decided to suspend Liton form the organisation permanently.
