Tofail: Tarique a ‘black sheep’

Update : 26 Aug 2014, 08:42 PM

Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed has come down heavily on BNP leader Tarique Rahman and its chief Khaleda Zia for labelling the ruling Awami League as a “black sheep” party.

Tofail, also a senior leader of the party, yesterday termed Tarique, the BNP’s senior vice-chairman, a black sheep while labelled his mother Khaleda as “inhuman.”

“Only a black sheep like Tarique can call Awami League a black sheep party.

“The BNP chairperson is inhuman as she celebrates her fake birthday on the National Mourning Day, August 15,” Tofail told reporters at his Secretariat office after a meeting with visiting G8 Secretary General Syed Ali Muhamand Musavi.

Tarique’s father Ziaur Rahman became the president of Bangladesh while his mother the prime minister because Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had liberated the country from Pakistan, Tofail said.

He also refuted Tarique’s allegation that ruling government ministers Rashed Khan Menon and Hasanul Haque Inu had attended the oath-taking ceremony of Khandakar Mushtaque.
