With a view to keeping BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and her son Tarique Rahman away from politics and elections, the government is hatching conspiracy to involve them with the August 21 grenade attack incident.
BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir made the allegation on Saturday, according to a private TV channel report.
The BNP leader is addressing a rally at the Jatiya Press Club in the capital protesting detention of Amar Desh acting editor Mahmudur Rahman.
Fakhrul came up with the remarks after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s allegation that the late president Ziaur Rahman was involved in the August 15, 1975 assassination while Khaleda Zia, her son Tarique Rahman and her cabinet members were directly involved in the August 21 incident.
On Thursday, Hasina made the allegation in the Awami League rally held in the capital.
