Dhaka City Awami League general secretary and Relief and Disaster Management Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya (Bir Bikram) yesterday said those who were delighted after the killing of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman are now glad in celebrating fake birthday on the National Mourning Day on August 15.
"The delight of the killers of August 15 carnage of 1975 was synonymous to the delight of those who celebrate Khaleda Zia's fake birthday on the National Mourning Day," he said.
The minister said this while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion in the city.
Sheikh Russell Shishu Sangsad organised the discussion and a child juvenile painting competition at the Cafeteria of Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) of Dhaka University marking the National Mourning Day.
President of the organisation and Awami League Advisory Council member Prof Dr Sultana Safi chaired the discussion also addressed, among others, by Head Master of Dhaka Deaf and Dumb High School Md Aminul Islam, Dhaka City Awami League publicity secretary Abdul Huq Sabuj and office secretary Shahidul Islam Milon.
Recalling his fond memories, Maya said that youngest son of Bangabandhu Sheikh Russell was very fond of paintings like the children of today and Sheikh Russell used to do painting depicting the natural scenario of the country.
He said, "The killers of August 15 massacre even killed Sheikh Russell by spraying bullets on his head saying the weeping minor boy (Russell) that they were taking him to his mother. Such a barbaric political murder was unprecedented in the history of the world."
The Awami League leader said the defeated forces of the war of liberation killed Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and most of his family members in the August 15 carnage when he had been ensuring the country's progress after rebuilding the war ravaged Bangladesh to take revenge of their defeat.
Maya alleged that the same anti-liberation force has again been hatching conspiracies at a time when the illustrious daughter of the Father of the Nation and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been ensuring country's progress.
"The same evil force has also been hatching conspiracy to kill Sheikh Hasina to jeopardise development and prosperity of Bangladesh," the minister said adding "We have to take all out efforts to safeguard Sheikh Hasina for the sake of country's development and establishment of people's fundamental rights".
